HABA Magica Wooden Baby Rattle, Clutching Toy & Teether
Great for grasping and teething, these rattles are made from sustainable forestry in Germany and use water-based, solvent-free lacquers. Combining the senses of touch and the auditory rattle with the visually vibrant color make these a great first toy for your little one.
The First Years Stack Up Cup Toys
These classic cups are a must have as they are not only great for learning colors, but they are also great for starting to grasp the concept of size differences. These have actually become a bath toy for my little one as they have holes to let the water drain through and don't build up mold like squirting toys as long as they are emptied and dried in between baths. It's amazing how the simplest toys can bring the most entertainment and learning abilities.
Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack and Baby's First Blocks Bundle
Since both of these toys are great for developing fine motor skills as well as starting to develop some visual discrimination and spatial relationship skills, this bundle was definitely on my baby registry. My little one loves both of these and I love watching her really manipulate and analyze the pieces as she plays.
Playskool Poppin’ Pals Pop-up Activity Toy for Babies and Toddlers
While this toy was certainly one that we played with together as my little one got the most enjoyment out of it by just watching me work the buttons and knobs, Alison has certainly learned not only all of the directions to work each piece, but also how to close and reset everything. Visual skills for this toy include directionality, visual discrimination, and more.
Aqua Magic Doodle Mat
I don't know who enjoys this more, me or my daughter, but this water doodle mat is certainly something I would have loved as a child. As coloring is so important in learning how to better put a picture or image to our visualization skills, this mat is such a great way to start your little one doodling at a young age. Without any fear or ink, crayons, or anything else getting on cloths or furniture or into mouths, your little one can doodle while you breath easy. I loved this so much I actually have two and had one in the office when my little ones came to work with me.
VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker
This toy has had such longevity in our house! My little one was into this when she was just hardly able to sit up and then genuinely used it when working on standing and walking. The lights, music notes, songs, turning gears, matching shapes, and more provide so many opportunities for your little one to really move in their space and physically interact with this walker. One thing that was REALLY worth noting was that the resistance on the wheels adjust and this is NOT available in all the walkers out there and really helped hold the walker in place when my little one was just starting to stand and then move onto walking.
