Paying For Therapy & Sports Vision Training
Why We Don’t Take Insurance (and How We Work Harder for Our Patients)
Like most Vision Therapy practices, we do not take insurance. The reality is that Vision Therapy is rarely covered by insurance companies, even though it is one of the most effective solutions for patients struggling with visual processing challenges. Other clinics also operate on a direct-pay model, but here’s the difference:
Lowest Prices in California
Our Exam and Vision Therapy prices are the lowest in the entire state of California—in fact, many times they are half the price of other clinics. Despite our affordable prices, we provide a better overall experience:
-
Larger therapy rooms designed for more comfort and functionality.
-
More advanced technology than any other Vision Therapy clinic in California.
-
Highly specialized programs focused exclusively on Vision Therapy, Vision Rehabilitation, and Sports Vision Training.
Why We Can Offer Such Low Costs

Because we designed our clinics to specialize solely in Vision Therapy, we have created efficient systems and advanced programs that allow us to pass the savings directly to you. We are the only clinics in California with such a highly focused and specialized Vision Therapy program.
Your comprehensive exam includes:
-
A complete written report of all findings.
-
Clear explanations of your results.
-
Online Portal for Easy Access to all documents.
-
A superbill with diagnosis and procedure codes you can submit to your medical insurance for potential reimbursement. Some of our patients receive partial reimbursement after submitting this documentation.
What's Included With Your Exam
An Investment in Your Life
While insurance may not cover Vision Therapy, the investment is well worth it. By addressing and curing visual processing deficiencies, our patients experience improvements in:
-
Reading and comprehension
-
Headaches and eye strain
-
Test-taking ability and school performance
-
Memory and focus
-
Comfort in busy or visually demanding environments

“The difference has been astounding! Between improved reading, self-confidence, behavior, sports, my wife and I feel we "almost" have two different kids as they have come so far! Thank you to Dr. McCartin and her team for all they've done for our two kids.”

The treatment is a mind blowing. After getting the therapy it improved considerably and by changing 0.25 on one of the eyes I stopped seeing double. Worth every penny! Dr Kalie is a real deal!

"Everything has helped so much. I feel like my eyes have been replaced with new ones.
I used to get car sick after just 15 minutes of riding in the car and now I'm fine after over 3 hours."

"Dr. McCartin and her vision therapy sessions saved my life! Well, most of the fun parts of my life - tennis, hiking in the mountains, driving at night, and just seeing the world clearly."

Can I give this more stars? Please? One of my children was referred to vision therapy by a doctor and in scouring the web to find someone, I stumbled upon Dr. McCartin and never looked back. After the initial consultation and test, I was blown away by the technology and approach to correcting issues. Being familiar with lens optics and three dimensional photography, a lot of what Dr. McCartin was saying clicked with me and made complete sense. After a few visits and talking with Dr. McCartin about other patients she has seen and the reasons why, I had another child of mine tested and ended up having two kids in therapy. The difference has been astounding! Between improved reading, self-confidence, behavior, sports, my wife and I feel we "almost" have two different kids as they have come so far! Thank you to Dr. McCartin and her team for all they've done for our two kids. Best internet search & find we've ever done!!!!!

"Dr. McCartin is phenomenally knowledgeable and her team is great. My teenage son enjoys going to every session (and really, what teenager loves anything a parent requires him or her to do)? The equipment is state of the art and the assessments are eye-opening to me as a parent."

The Visual Processing Institute has been a godsend for my family. Dr. McCartin (formerly Baker) and her team have treated my three children. I saw dramatic changes in their reading comprehension, improved concentration and less fatigue. I am so impressed with my children's progress that I decided to become a patient of Dr. McCartin's.

After finishing therapy he had improved immensely. He was completing homework on time and in 1-2 hours rather than the 4-5 that he would put in previously without making a lot of progress.
We had our 6 month follow up (post therapy), just to make sure that his progress continued, and it has. At age 13 years 4 months he now has a Reading EyeQ of college level.
I wish everyone knew to have their children evaluated.
I will forever be grateful to Dr. McCartin and her team for the therapy my son received. It was truly life changing for him!

I had, what I thought at first, was a minor concussion. It felt like waking up with the worst hang over of my life for months.
The PC in charge of my injury made me go through acupuncture, physical therapy, speech therapy, and more things that I can’t even remember. It was a bit over a year since it happened, and I still couldn’t get back to myself.
I would forget and misunderstand everything. All the intelligence I’ve worked for, my entire life, felt like it was gone.
I had horrible trap pain, neck pain, headaches, dizziness, nausea and terrible forgetfulness. (I’ve been injected 7 times in my traps with anti pain injections and did nothing to me).
The first visit with the Dr. McCartin, she took so much time talking to me about every single little symptom, every injury I’ve ever had, and all of the treatments the PC has put me through.
As it turns out I’ve had a history of concussions and this last one was the cherry one top.
She knew about my symptoms better than I could remember them, and express them myself. She was SO truly understanding of my pain and knew exactly what I needed to feel better while I was at the office. I felt validated for the first time in over a year.
All of the therapy the PC had put me through was the complete opposite to what I was supposed to be doing, it was the reason such minor concussion had caused such chaos in my life, I would’ve never known had it been for her.
The Dr. and therapist gave me such amazing treatment I was even able to get rid of contacts and glasses all together, because the contacts I was wearing previous to this last concussion were needed because of my history of concussions.
Dr. McCartin truly knows her profession and you can tell she’s so passionate about what she does. She’s one of the two doctors I’ve ever visited who profoundly care about people and not just making money of people.
She’s saved my life and I’m finally been able to recover my mind, eyes and ability to be back to myself. She validated me every single time, when all other professionals kept on wondering what was wrong with me or gaslighting me about my symptoms.
She's one of the few doctors that finds cures, not just treatments. The cure to what I thought I’d have for the rest of my life.

Dr. McCartin has helped my family tremendously with this therapy. We are so grateful to her and her entire team. I have learned so much about convergence issues and dizziness with the help of Dr. McCartin. She has incredible knowledge and uses cutting edge technology to help her patients. She explains the issues in a simple manner and is able to provide a great treatment plan. I highly recommend this doctor

She is a highly knowledgeable and caring physician, and good with kids. She is always thorough in her evaluations and clear about what your options are (continue therapy, take a break, etc.) and what the consequences of those options would be.
